Dust and dirt cling relentlessly to light fixtures, dimming their glow by 20-30% and shortening bulb lifespans. While experts recommend bi-annual deep cleaning involving fixture dismantling, a practical alternative is regular dusting and wiping. A quick routine every few months can avert the need for intensive cleaning, ensuring your fixtures shine consistently.
SAFETY FIRST
Before you begin cleaning
Ensure your safety. Turn off the chandelier's power source to prevent accidents. Make sure the fixture is off for at least 20 minutes so you can clean the bulbs safely.
If the chandelier is high up or in a hard-to-reach spot, use a sturdy ladder or scaffolding.
If necessary, consider enlisting the help of a friend or family member to steady the ladder or provide assistance.
BEGIN CLEANING
Unscrew the lightbulb and clean it with a dry, soft cloth. Do not apply pressure, as you can crack the bulb.
Use the extendable brusher to capture dust and dirt on the canopy, rods, arms, and socket.
Use a microfiber cloth to clean the remaining dust in the more detailed areas of the fixture.
Gently wipe down the fixture with glass cleaner or a mixture of mild soap and water for the more delicate areas and crystal components.
Allow fixture to airdrop completely before reinserting the light bulbs and turning on.
To clean the ornate crystal component, wipe it down with a dry microfiber cloth.
